PADEL: Racket Choice – What Do I Need to Know?

Your new favorite sport – here comes Padel!

Padel is the fastest growing sport in the world and is currently conquering courts all over the globe. The game is instantly accessible and generates exciting rallies that appeal to every athlete. Before that, however, comes an important step: choosing your perfect racket. At OLIVER-SPORT, we know from decades of experience that the right racket technology exponentially accelerates your learning curve and defines your performance. Choosing a racket is a strategic act. With our expertise and the right OLIVER racket in your hand, nothing stands in the way of your success on the Padel court.

What is a Padel racket?

A Padel racket, also called a Padel bat or Spanish "Pala", differs fundamentally from a traditional tennis racket. It has no strings, but rather a solid, continuous material made of foam (EVA) and an impact-resistant shell.

Your racket determines the weighting of power, control, and feel. Let's find out together which shape and which innovative OLIVER technologies optimally support your game.

What racket shapes are there?

The three basic shapes in Padel are strategic decisions that directly affect your game. They determine where the sweet spot is – the alpha and omega for high power transmission.

  • Round (Round Shape): Has the largest sweet spot and maximizes forgiveness. The ideal choice for beginners or if you prioritize high control.
  • Teardrop (Teardrop Shape): The versatile all-rounder. Offers you the best compromise between offensive power and defensive control.
  • Diamond (Diamond Shape): Places the sweet spot at the highest point. This creates maximum striking power, as the kinetic energy is optimally bundled. Only for experienced players.

Which Padel rackets are the best?

Of course, this cannot be answered in a generalized way. The best racket is one that is optimally tailored to your strength, skill, and needs. Weight and balance are important criteria in addition to the racket shape: The balance, i.e., the weight distribution in relation to the grip, is often a bigger performance secret than the pure racket weight itself.

  • The weight: Light rackets offer easier handling and are particularly suitable for children and beginners. Heavier models deliver more power in the stroke.
  • The balance: A head-heavy racket leads to higher ball speed. This is referred to as the leverage effect of balance. A handle-heavy racket offers more control and requires less maintenance at the net, meaning the racket does its "work" (control and stability) by itself without the need for many corrective wrist movements.

OLIVER Expert Tip: Choose the balance that suits your training level and minimizes your fatigue. A well-balanced racket keeps you precise even in the third set!

Material Composition: Our technology makes the difference!

This is where our Racket Pioneer knowledge comes into play! We use our specially developed materials to specifically achieve the desired playing characteristics and give you the best feel.

How can the material influence my game?

  1. The core can improve your stroke: Density is key. With the different degrees of hardness (EVA Hi-Soft, EVA-Soft, EVA Pro) we control the shock absorption and reactivity. Maximum forgiveness with EVA Hi-Soft or full power transmission with EVA Pro.
  2. The frame: By using premium carbon fibers (like 3K/12K) and special composites like WOVEN EPOLON, we reduce unwanted torsion (twisting) and can maximize striking power. The racket remains extremely stable and your power transmission is lossless!

As experts, we combine these specific and high-quality materials for our Padel rackets purposefully, in order to technologically represent the perfect match for every type of player and every requirement.
